Just a friendly reminder that if you are the first one through the course after a snowfall please take the time to shovel out the tee pads. If you don't they end up packed down and icy.
Dean was nice enough to put out shovels on most tee areas so lets use them!
Thanks!

Order a Devens Disc Golf Sweatshirt!
I just wanted to make you aware that Devens Disc Golf will be doing a one time run of sweatshirts with one of the new course logos:
The sweatshirt will be brown with the full logo on the back and "Devens Disc Golf" on the front breast. Very similar to the Team Challenge sweatshirts you may have seen around lately with the exception of the color change and some wording changes as well.
I'll be ordering some tshirts with the same colors and designs as well and we will begin selling those at league in March. In order to get the order in soon and use the sweatshirt during the winter months I am asking that we do preorders for the sweatshirt only.
Please get your order in to me with # of sweatshirts required as well as the size (s). You can email me, facebook, text, whatever!
devensdiscgolf@gmail.com
The cost for each sweatshirt will be $35.00 with all proceeds going to future course improvements/expansions.
I will be ordering shortly on New Years Day so, please, if you want a sweatshirt please get your info (name and sizes) to me now!
Spread the word.
Luke
PS - Tshirts will be $20.00 but no need to preorder those.

Finalized Team Devens Gear
Disregard my earlier post with the team logo. I just received the awesome finalized version from Jaybob.
Team Devens Hosts Borderland 2 this Weekend
This Sunday Team Devens will host its first home match against the B Pool team from Borderland. We are still charged up from our come from behind win on the road last month. Hopefully we can carry that momentum into this match and defend our home turf! Wish us luck!
The course will be pretty crowded but playable for casual rounds.
Check out our new team logo!

Bonanza!
What a day! Thank you to everyone who came out yesterday and to everyone who helped to make this league such a big success! There are lots of people who assist on a regular basis and it would not run smoothly without that help. I'd like to also thank those who put their hard earned money into that gift certificate. It was certainly not necessary but very much appreciated. Tara and I love that restaurant and we are excited to go back, THANK YOU!
Yesterday felt like a bunch of friends getting together to play some disc golf. I'm happy to have met you all and I look forward to doing this all again next year with the hopes of bigger and better things! Stay tuned in late winter for info on the 2013 season and as always, please feel free to provide any suggestions.
Enough of the sappiness, here are the results:

Star Teebird - won by Bill Smith
Lattitude Villain - won by Josh Miller
Lattitude Villain - won by Dave Mullett
$10.00 Kimball Farm Gift Certificate - won by Tim Seiger
$10.00 Kimball Farm Gift Certificate - won by Andy Duquette

Other prizes included, Vibram Open 2010 DVD, A couple Tshirts, 6 Pack of beer with a Growler and another disc or two as well
Side note - Apparently eating pizza is translates into good disc golfing. Travis held the record for most pizza consumed (8 slices!) and he shot a 52 the 2nd round... The secret is out

What to say? We had a phenomenal year which I hope to make even better next year. Please feel free to use this thread to discuss anything we can do to make the league better or more fair.
As mentioned previously, we had 30 players come out on a really nice evening. Tim Seiger hit his first career ace on hole #9!
Here is a picture that I snagged from Tims facebook page. Nice shot, dude! Keep em coming!

Ace and Birdie Race Tournament a Success!
Thank you all so much for coming out to the Devens Ace and Birdie Race today.
I had so much fun during the rounds and I appreciate all the support from the locals to make the event run smooth. I especially appreciated those involved with bringing the temp baskets out to the course and also back in after the round was over.
We had 54 people for the Ace Race which was a sell out! Since the layout was slightly lengthened from its previous versions I was surprised to see so many aces and metal hits. In the end, there were 9 aces & 55 (!) metal hits. 32 different people put some form of points on the board.
Even with the addition of the 4 temp holes, that’s still a lot of hits! Good shootin’, everyone!
Congrats to Moe Ryan who won the Discraft Prize Pack (consisting of a nice bag and 8 premium discs!)
Here are the full Ace Race Results.
Moe Ryan 2 aces, 2 metals

Bill Corr 1 metal
Brian Christina 1 metal
Andy Allen 1 metal
22 others tied with no aces or metals
The Birdie Race was a lot of fun as well! Devens is a great course for this type of round as there is a good mix of holes where you need to be aggressive to get the birdie along with those that you need that perfect layup or placement shot to get it. Lots of aggressive putts too.
We played A and B pool divisions for this round and each division had a 3 way tie for first place.
In the A pool, Ken Gary, Ken Marshall & Ned Eisenburg played off for the top spot and Ken Gary came out victorious. In the B pool, Aaron Stewart & Mike Hladick played off for the top spot and Mike won! Justin Johnson was also tied for first but he had something come up and had to leave right after the round so he automatically received 3rd place.
Matt Duquette aced hole 10 during the birdie race!

Ace Race Player Packs Are Here!
Three big boxes awaited me when I got home last night.
Here is the player pack and the winners prize:
I'm not pleased with the variety of disc weights (mostly heavier discs, sigh) but hopefully it will work out for everyone.

Tournament Disc Idea?
Time to start looking into creating a killer tournament disc for next years event.
Here is Ken G.'s idea. I love it! Hope we can make it work with a disc company.

Coming Soon - Bag Tag Bonanza!
Just a heads up that the end of the league year is coming soon and we will once again put on a Bag Tag Bonanza. The date is scheduled for Sunday - November 4th.
Since this year was so successful we are going to buy lunch (pizza) for all players! I am going to ask Tara to make a dessert too. Feel free to make something and bring it along to share as well. If all goes well, we might even be providing a small player pack to all players.
We will be playing 2 rounds and both rounds will be added to the season standings. We will do the usual $5.00 entry and pay out for CTPs, Aces and the top 3 for the day.
End of the season payouts will also be awarded at the end of the day.
This was a really great year, please come and celebrate with us!

Help with new Devens artwork
We have received some draft submissions for some new Devens artwork. I'd like to get several ideas so that we can make some really cool tags next year and hopefully make some sweet tournament disc for next years spring tournament. Maybe even make some nice gear for the the Devens Team.
Here are some great submissions, please keep them coming:

Welcome to the new Devens blog!
Welcome! There is a lot happening at Devens lately and lots of people have commented about how they miss the old Devens blog so here it is! I think this will be a great way to communicate upcoming events such as tournaments, league info, workdays, etc.
Look for a new Facebook page and maybe even a Twitter feed too in the coming months.
Hopefully this will live up the high standard that John set with the old Devens blog, which by the way is still available as a historical piece via a link on the right side of the page.
