Wednesday Weekly League - Week 7 Results

Well, I don't know what to say anymore.. The forecast was not good, looked like solid rain for at least half the round with some pretty bad wind and 73 people still came out to play. We were all rewarded with just a few drops of rain! It was definitely windy though, especially during the first few holes.

Air horn start worked well and so did the trickle start off the General with 4somes and new starting hole assignments. I'll probably keep that all going as long as it continues to work. Basically, the General hole assignments work as follows. Check in, wait for a 4some to form and then you all go out together and start your round. No stringent start time aside from the firm cutoff of 15 minutes before the Hill start. When you check in for the General, don't wander too far away from check in area so you can be ready to go when the group is formed.

414 total player over the first 7 weeks. That is an average of 59+ per night. This matches our average from last year even when you consider we haven't had a 5:30 start yet. Fantastic!

105 tags sold and 110 unique players have been part of the league. There are some that have bought a tag and not played yet but the # of people playing who bought a tag is way up this year. Thank you for your support of the courses!!

NEXT WEEK START TIME IS 5:30pm (5:15 cut off for The General)

Wednesday Weekly League - Week 6 Results

Superb night at Devens for league!  We hit a new record high of 74 players. I am quite scared of what is going to happen when we get to the 5:30 starts. Weather was fantastic we we got our first and second aces of the season! Nat Fairbanks hit his first career ace on hole 9 and Bob Kulchuk nailed hole 17 to split the large pot.

Hole assignments for The General didn't work very well. Here is what we are going to try next week. Let me know if you have any other ideas.

We are sending up to 33 people max out on The General. Will send out groups to hole 1 in groups of 3, then hole 12 in groups of 3, then hole 9 in groups of 3 then hole 14 in groups of 3. The first 9 people will start on 1, then the next 9 on hole 12, ect. You will receive a hole assignment AND a group # and a tee time. Group 1 will start 10 minutes before the general tee time, group 2 will start 5 minutes before the generals tee time and group 3 will start on time with the generals tee time (STILL 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE HILL).
So you check in and tell me you want the general, I tell you that you are on hole 1 in group 1 with a tee time of 10 minutes early.

I can't think of any better way other than spreading the holes out more and that is just cruel!  I need to get you checked into my spreadsheet with a hole assignment in under 30 seconds in order to get everyone checked in and out to their hole on time so all cooperation in appreciated.

I'll be using an air horn next week to avoid another false start..

ACES (worth additional point in standings & $$)
Nat Fairbanks - Hole 9 (First Ace!)
Bob Kulchuk - Hole 17

They split a $260ish pot

Wednesday Weekly League - Week 5 Results

Weather was pretty crappy but we still managed to draw 49 players for our 5th week of league.

We have now sold 96 tags!!

Next week we can start at 5pm. It seems that the trickle start on the General worked a little too well. There were groups done with their round for an hour before some of the Hill groups started coming back. Let's try the hill doing a shot gun start at 5pm and the general having a shotgun start at 4:45pm. We only walk out to 4 different holes on the general so there may be 6 or 9 people at each starting hole. Just split into three somes and start. If this doesn't work well I'll create some new cards with different starting holes. On the General you do not need to wait for the start call. Just start at or around 4:45...

ACES (worth additional point in standings & $$)
none -
Hill Pot at $191
General Pot at $12

Considering just making it one pot good to hit on either course. I'd cap pots at $250 and start a new one. What do you all think?

Wednesday Weekly League - Week 4 Results

Pretty decent weather last night and we had 57 players. It was nice and sunny with a little breeze to start the round but the wind died down nicely.

We have now sold 94 tags!!

Next week we can start at 4:45pm and we will start implementing The General into league!!  At check in just let me know which course you wanna play so I can plug the right info into the spreadsheet.  Last call for players on The General will be at 4:30pm. If you arrive after that time you will have to play The Hill. Hole assignments will remain the same for The Hill and The General will have a trickle start off of holes 1, 11, 9 & 14. I'll send groups of three out at a time..
