The nice weather streak ended at 3.. It was pretty chilly and cloudy last night. No rain though =)
We still got 59 players despite the weather, including 2 new players which brings our total # of players up to 122. Awesome!
Ned wins his last league as a Devens local since he is moving out to the north shore. Hopefully he will visit us often! Who is this Ken Gary guy? His AVERAGE over the last 4 weeks is a 51.25! Those grandmasters at the 28 Chain Salute better be on their game this weekend if they want a chance. Ashley Toomey continues to make most of the boys cry.. Nice 59!

28 Chain Salute - Less Than a Week Away!
Wow - just spent a whirlwind day prepping for the tournament next weekend.. Started the day at 7:30am wrapping up this week league results, etc and worked straight through until 9pm with tourney prep stuff. You guys are lucky I like you =)
So, everything is coming together pretty well. I was a little overwhelmed when I realized I miscalculated some expenses and the entry fee's barely covered expenses. I thought I wasn't going to have any extra money to add in any CTPs so I put the word out and boy did you all deliver! I think having CTPs on every hole is important and we now have some really cool stuff to give away so thank you to those who sponsored holes and donated prizes. We envisioned this as a fundraiser for the course and if all stays as it is right now we would be donating about $150 to the course! We will have a pretty awesome pack of discs for our hole sponsors to shoot for as well!
We have also had lots of people offer to help with the tourney so we should have a few spotters, etc. and lots of general helpers. The course is long but the day should still go smoothly! I confirmed 4 transportation trucks today and I will make up some A/B/C/D signs for each truck so you know which truck to get in for your starting hole. Some holes are going to be a required walk. Since the holes are all located pretty far away from tourney central (in the usual spot near the practice basket and entrance to hole 1 on The Hill) I will allow plenty of time for everyone to get out to their holes. Some of you may be waiting a little longer than usual to start but it is for the greater good. We had thought about driving the trucks up to the middle of the course but it's a little dangerous with lots of overhanging branches so most holes will have a bit of a walk even if you take a truck out.
The big news is that an extremely dedicated group of volunteers installed all 18 tee boxes and flypads this month. These are really awesome and they are one of the many reasons I am proud to be part of the Devens DGC family.

Wednesday Weekly League - Week 11 Results
Now three weeks straight with perfect weather and an enormous crowd! We had 63 players come out for our first of 10 weeks with PDGA rated rounds. The ratings look pretty accurate for the first week and maybe they will adjust a bit once the 10 weeks are over but if not, im happy with where they are at now. I can see them possibly adjusting up to 10 points higher..
Ken Gary snagged the #1 tag with his hot 982 rated 51 continuing his extremely hot streak.
Aaron Stewart wins B pool for the second week in a row with 58 to win the B pool.
Chris Pickering nails a sweet ace on hole 4 for $64 bucks!
We had a ton of new players show up last night and we have now sold exactly 100 tags. Only 20 left so come grab yours next week. I believe we have had 120 unique players and our average attendance is almost 58 players per week.

Wednesday Weekly League - Week 10 Results
That makes two weeks straight with perfect weather and an enormous crowd! We had 66 players come out despite the fact that the Bruins Game 7 was on tv at 7. I got home in time for the 3rd period and then they ruined an otherwise fantastic night.
Aaron Little successfully defends the #1 tag and workhorse Ken Gary has continued his recent tear as well. Ken has finished 1st or 2nd for 4 straight weeks. Not easy to do with this group of talented golfers nipping at him.
Aaron Stewart shot a hot 56 to win the B pool and Nick Erickson wasn't far behind with a 57. Nick climbed out of an early hole after taking a very unfortunately series of trees and rolls on hole 1. Way to fight back. Avery Sartelle has been heating up lately too, nice 62!!
Congrats guys.
Also notable is that we had 13 guys shoot 54 (par) or better. That has to be some kind of record for our league as well..

Wednesday Weekly League - Week 9 Results
Sorry for the delayed results. Been busy busy!
We had picture perfect weather on Wednesday. That coupled with a 5:30 start brought out our largest group ever to Wednesday league. We had 69 players which was just 3 short of a sold out crowd. I'm continued to be impressed with everyones dedication to our league. Wednesday is a popular night with leagues at Tully, Dacey Fields, Newton Hill, Buffumville and Devens so thanks for shopping at Devens =)
Doug Callaghan hit a crazy ace on hole 12 that we had no idea went into the basket until the group on 11 asked us why we weren't excited after hitting the ace. Apparently, he threw a PAIN that bounced off 2 trees before skipping off the ground and depositing itself lightly in the basket. Other highlights of the night include Aaron Littles hot 51 and a 5 way tie for second with 52s including John Rodenhizers personal best score and Ashley Toomey who would have tied for first place in the B pool with her 59. Congrats also to Ashley for winning her division at the PDGA Womans Global event yesterday :D
