28 Chain Salute Wrap Up
Thank you all so much for making “The Third Annual 28 Chain Salute” tournament such a success! This was our first attempt at a two day event and it sure was exhausting! I enjoyed myself though and I hope you did as well. Aside from the searing heat both days (especially on Saturday!) and the wildfire which closed down 2 holes on the General on Sunday things seemed to go pretty smooth. I appreciate everyones flexibility on Sunday when we had to change holes 13 and 14 on the general to holes 3 & 4 on the hill.
We did a fun twist to hole 2 on Saturday and it produced some interesting scores! We put some OB rope up and played it as a "island hole". You had to get in bounds on your drive or re-tee and the scores ranged from a 1 to a 13 and just about everything in between!
There were two aces during tournament weekend. Aaron Little aced hole 2 on the General on his first throw of the day. Angel Vega hit the same hole on Sunday as well! Aaron won a $124 ace pot and Angel won a $76.00 pot.
If you signed up for the event on the morning of the tournament and didn’t get your points for this tournament please let me know. I’m not sure how long the process takes but give it at least a few days. I submitted the results today.
Thanks also to the volunteers and those that helped with registration, scoring, spotting and payout stuff at this event along with Sam Henderson who donated some prizes and ran a throw off them! Thanks also to Green Light Disc Golf for stepping up at a late stage to be our AM payout vendor. Was great to have them on site! Am's can redeem there winnings at other Green Light events this summer and fall. Next up for them is the Summerfest at Rapscallion Disc Golf course this coming weekend.

Sunday Event - 28 Chain Salute
So we had a pretty large fire on the course this evening which was luckily contained away from fairways and basket areas. The area of concern is behind and left of 12s basket on the General and below holes 13 & 14 as I understand it. It's a pretty large area though our paths and playing areas should be fine.
While we expect the AM day of the 28 Chain Salute to run as planned tomorrow there will be some small inconveniences. The firefighters will be back at 5am tomorrow and will be working until after the tournament starts. We cannot use any transportation trucks so all holes will need to be walked to. You will be provided with ample time to get out to the further holes and I ask you to text me when your full group is at your starting hole.
The firefighters will be going in and out and we need to give them all the space they need. Please don't park over by tournament central. They state that the fire will be smoldering all night and into probably during the day tomorrow. Don't be alarmed if this area is still smoldering.
Lastly, it's very hot and dry. A cigarette on the ground will likely destroy our course. If see anyone tossing a cigarette please remind them of what happened today.
See you all in the morning.

28 Chain Salute Notes
I'm looking forward to seeing the pros and advanced players tomorrow and all of the other amateur players on Sunday! it's going to be hot and we will have 4 cases of water on ice. Same deal on Sunday. The course is well shaded but make sure you stay hydrated, etc.
Make sure you are registered by 9am each day or you will lose your spot in the event if there is someone there waiting for it.
We are still planning for the players party! Devens Disc Golf is hosting a players party at the Billiards Cafe in Ayer on Saturday the 23rd at the conclusion of day one of the tournament. About 60 people expressed interest in this event during a registration poll. All registered players from both days of the tournament are invited to attend. We expect to start the party at about 5:30pm and it should run for a couple of hours. We have 4 pool tables reserved and some food being served at 6pm with a replenishment at 6:30pm. We will be providing wings and pizza and the pool play! The food is good! Come and grab a bite to eat and enjoy!
I'll have additional discs to sell for $10 each, stickers for $1 and Devens bag tags for $20 each.
Am payouts:
Green Light will be at the tournament on Sunday so that winners from both Saturday and Sunday can redeem their funny money. If Saturday players can't make it back on Sunday the certificates will be good at all other events run by Green Light Disc Golf along with at their store at the Rapscallion course. They are also kicking in an additional 15% of value as well!
It came to our attention mid week that tee box 13 is pretty weak towards the front of the box. Ken went out to provide a temporary fix tonight but it didn't 100% resolve the problem. Teeing off towards the side of the box is recommended. I have't seen it personally but there is some flexibility in the boards under the fly pad.
Hole 2 OB rope went up tonight and it is visible from the tee (bright pink!). The basket side of the rope is in bounds and everything short of that is out of bounds. Retee shooting 3,5, etc. until you get in bounds. This OB is in effect for Saturday only.

Devens Women's Open
The Devens Women's Open is officially scheduled for Sunday, August 21st.
Registration should go live next Monday evening through NEFA.
This tournament will be NEFA and PDGA sanctioned.
10.00 hole sponsorship will be offered with proceeds going to New England Women's Disc Golf.
This tournament will be two rounds on the Hill.
Pro registration fee will be 40.00, Am will be 30.
I'm working to get a custom stamped disc and some other small items through Dynamic Discs. I am ordering 40 discs total.
Please sign up ahead of time if you know you're able to come.
Once player packs are handed out I imagine there will be additional discs for purchase. I'm paying for these ahead of time out of my own money so any help I can get with getting these sold, I'd appreciate it.
