Wednesday Weekly League - Week 7 Results

Another big night with 101 players joining us for league!

Last night went pretty smooth with only 1  or 2 issues. I'm gonna keep these next few paragraphs on the wrap up for the next few weeks though.

With the record numbers comes the need for more cooperation from the players. PLEASE use the automated system to check in and report scores. Tim and I should really only be used to enter accept cash/mark you as paid/add new players/sell tags and form groups for The General during check in and then to hand out tags and read off names at the end of the night. The league purchased a small tablet which will be on the table for you to use if you don't have your own smartphone. It's super easy to sign in and report scores and your cooperation can only help to improve the league..

We also took away the ability to form your own group on the General via the phone wifi page. Tim and I will do that for you as having players form the card caused a few issues. Basically, make sure all players in your group are signed into the virtual waiting room and paid, then come see tim or I and let us know which 4 players will  be in your group and we will form the card and assign a hole.

Please also start from the hole in which you were assigned. We consider all sorts of things when running a league of this size and course flow is extremely important. We place people on the course in way designed to provide the best course flow and we appreciate your cooperation as all 100 of us can't start on hole 1.

We will move the starting time up to 5:30 going forward (cut off 30 minutes earlier for General)

See ya next week.

Wednesday Weekly League - Week 6 Results

We smashed the league attendance record last night with 103 players!! That's  an increase of 14 players over the previous record, wow! David Rich grabbed Ace Pot #1 by hitting hole 9 on the Hill. $250! Marc Sobota continues his great play and grabbed another A pool win. Kay Gray shoots a personal best 61 on the Hill!

PLEASE READ THE NEXT FEW PARAGRAPHS  CAREFULLY IF YOU CARE ABOUT THIS LEAGUE:

With the record numbers comes the need for more cooperation from the players. PLEASE use the automated system to check in and report scores. Tim and I should really only be used to enter accept cash/mark you as paid/add new players/sell tags and form groups for The General during check in and then to hand out tags and read off names at the end of the night. We have a few older phones or ipods that can connect to Wifi and access the league sign in and we will leave these on the table for you to use if you don't have your own smartphone. It's super easy to sign in and report  scores and your cooperation can only help to improve the league..

We had an issue with the General last night as we ran out of space on our allocated holes and ultimately sold the course out before people waiting for the rest of their group to arrive could form a card. We appreciate your cooperation with shifting of cards and courses. We will be changing the allocated holes to allow more players going forward and hopefully a better course flow as well. Basically, we will trickle start off of holes 1 and 9 (alternating). It is extremely important that you start on the assigned hole. I get special requests every week and we just cannot accommodate them with this many people. It's a big puzzle and one misplaced piece is a problem for the entire group.

Keeping the start times at 5:15pm Hill start time and the 4:45 General cut off next week. After that we should be clear to move  to 5:30 on May 4th.

See ya next week.

Hill Yeah Spring Classic 4 - Wrap Up

Thank you all so much for making “The Hill Yeah Spring Classic 4” tournament such a success!  I had such a fun day and I hope that you all did as well!  The weather was just perfect and I loved seeing everyone enjoying themselves.

There were two aces during tournament play. Christian Collins nailed hole 15 and John Hart smashed hole 1! Both excellent aces!  Bill Bertera aced hole 2 between rounds as well.

Make sure you go spend your funny money at the Hawks Nest store. Josh and/or Marc are looking forward to seeing you.

If you signed up for the event on the morning of the tournament and didn’t get your points for this tournament please let me know. I’m not sure how long the process takes but give it at least a few days. I submitted the results on Monday.

Wednesday Weekly League - Week 5 Results

Another great night at Devens league! We had 88 players and some really hot scores! Marc Sobota shot a 52 on the General which translated into the lowest recorded league round ever when you factor in the 6 stroke handicap (46)! 5th place shot a 51 and we had 3 people shoot in the 40s! Kyle  Moriarty shot a 48 and John Buonsanto with a 49 (both on the Hill).

Casey White shot a 58 on the General to win B pool, Sean Coyne shot a 55 on the Hill to win C pool and Ashley Toomey shot a 64 on the General to win the ladies pool.

We had 11 ladies at league, which I think ties or maybe even breaks that attendance record!

Moving the start time up to 5:15pm Hill start time and the 4:45 General cut off next week.

Thanks again for all of your cooperation with the automated check in and score reporting. We had two players who went out on the General without being added into the card. Please make sure that all 4 players are checked before you form your card. All of these small things have ripple effects so please do take your time checking in, reporting scores and forming groups on the General.

See ya next week.

Team Challenge Finals This Weekend!

B Pool finals will take place @ Maple Hill on Saturday April 9th and Team Devens is playing for a spot in the A pool. We finished the season at 6-1 and earned ourselves the # 1 seed at finals. We will face Team Disc Hut out of Tolland, CT in the first round as we seek revenge on the team that handed us our only loss this year. We will play either Team Borderland or Team MaineBSR in the second round and hopefully we can win those first two matches and advance!

Wish us luck!

Wednesday Weekly - Week 4 Results

Wow, we thought the turnout would be low with some snow sticking around and some pretty cold and windy conditions but we had 85 players come out to play. Seriously, 4 weeks in and we haven't had less than 80 people participant. 83.75 average per night!

We will stick with the 5pm Hill start time and the 4:30 General cut off for one more week.

This was the first week of full automated check in and score reporting and it went really well! One or two  small hiccups but overall it worked amazingly. Thank you all for your cooperation with this!

See ya next week.
