Wednesday Weekly League - Week 3 Results

Fun times last night! We had 80 people come out to enjoy the great weather and competition.

Next week we will start at 5:00pm on the Hill but will stick to 4:30 on the General. The first 3 weeks of league have shown us that the last groups to go out to play the General come back later than everyone else so I think we will try always cutting the General off 30 minutes sooner.

Thanks to everyone who entered their scores on their phones. We think it went really well and next week will be our first week or complete online check in and score reporting. A full set of instructions will be available soon but I assure you it's nice and easy. If your not comfortable checking in through your phone or don't  have the proper equipment, you can still check in with us as well. If you are buying a tag or checking in for the first time please do so through us as well.

I heard that Jeff Angers hit an extremely long approach shot on hole 14 hill for the 2! Like from down by the alt tee!!

See ya next week.

Another Successful Workday

Thank you to the 25-30 people who came out to work on the course this morning. We had several groups of people accomplish the following:
  • Fixed stairs on Hill holes 9, 16 and 17 and General hole 2
  • Filled in tee pad hole with concrete on Hill hole 7
  • Built an easier walking path from Hill basket 18 to hole 1
  • Cut down many small trees on various General holes
  • Moved paver stones to various holes on the General for some alternate tees
  • Cut down many small trees and two large dead trees on Hill hole 3
  • Lots of various polesawing, trash pick up, etc.
We can't maintain these free courses without your help and it was awesome to see so many people there willing to lend a hand towards their course!

The courses can always use stick and trash pick up as you play your rounds. Take pride in your course and move some debris off the fairways each time you play.

Wednesday Weekly League - Week 2 Results

Interesting week here in New England. Monday snow storm drops 6 inches of snow on the course and by tee off on Wednesday the course is 100% snow free. Also, the forecast called for showers throughout the entire round last night and we didn't get a drop! It's good to see that the league weather machine is still working.

Some cards finished in the dark last night so we will stick with a 4:45 Hill start time next week (4:30 General).

We had some technical issues and we couldn't start the score input as we had hoped but the system still worked well and we were able to put scores in manually for all 86 players in a timely fashion! Speaking of numbers, through two weeks last year we had 103 players and through two weeks this year we have had 170. Some decent growth there and I am personally scared of what is going to happen we we start at 5:30pm. The 100 player challenge is still on as well, this means that the first time we reach 100 players on a single night we will add $100 to the payout (spread out among all divisions). Which week will we hit 100 players? Week 5 is my guess.

Ashlee Foley shot a personal best 65!

Please also note that it is quite important that you report to your assigned hole. If you make a switch after you have been assigned a hole it messes with the score entry and it isn't worth the hassle. Please only change holes if you have been specifically asked to do so  by whomever is running league. It is quite difficult to manipulate the automated system to provide a specific starting hole and we would sincerely appreciate you accepting your automatically assigned hole as it for the greater good of the entire league. Thank you!

See ya next week.

2016 Wednesday Weekly League is ON! Week 1 Results

What a great way to start the 2016 league season. We had very good weather for mid march and a whopping total of 84 people came out to  play. Last year we had some snow on the ground for week 1 and we had about 55 players.

Things seemed to run on time so we will try a 4:45pm start next week (4:30 cutoff  for the General)

Tim's new automated process worked very very well and I think next week I'll have everyone enter their scores in at the end of the night. Please just hold your card and we will go over it as a group at the end of the night. in about two-three weeks we will have you checking in and reporting scores like a pro!

Jeremy Draeger shot a personal best 56!

See ya next week.

League Begins This Wednesday!

LEAGUE RETURNS WEDNESDAY MARCH 16TH

League Basics (Prelim 2016 Structure):

The Wednesday Weekly returns on March 16th. Come get your 2016 bag tag and be ready to go by 4:30PM (15 minutes earlier for The General). This was once again the most popular singles league in New England last year (2,064 golfers came out) and we are aiming to make it bigger and better again this year so come join the fun.  We are working behind the scenes to potentially automate check in and score reporting for a quicker turn around after the round.

We use league as our primary fundraiser to help pay our yearly insurance bill. We make it fun and fair for all, so don't worry that you have to be an all-star to have a good time. We group players into four groups based on skill/gender, so you'll always be competing with someone about as good as you.

Details
• Wednesdays, starting March 16th
• Be checked in at at your starting hole by 4:30pm. Cut off on The General will always be 15 minutes before main start time.
• Initial cost: $20 for 2016 tag
• Buying a tag saves you $2/week. Visiting non-taggers can still play and get in on the cash payout but can't compete for a tag
• Four player pools (A pool for players who average 58 and under on The Hill , B pool for players who average between 59-68 on The Hill, C pool for players who average 69+ on The Hill and a women’s pool)
• A weekly divisional cash payout, an ace pot (capped at $250, will roll over to a additional pots if needed.) and a season long points event. Lots of raffle prizes at end of the year including some big ticket items
• You must be a tag holder to collect the ace pot
• We will do a skills challenge at the end of the night as soon as daylight allows. Just for fun!
• Players opting to play on The General will receive a handicap. The handicap will be based on last years data with over 2,000+ rounds considered.
• 31 weeks of league play (last day is Wednesday October 12th)
• CASUAL PLAY IS DISCOURAGED ON BOTH COURSES ON WEDNESDAY EVENINGS DURING LEAGUE SEASON
• One round of singles
• If you leave before tags are redistributed, get someone to grab it for you or risk us losing it. Alternatively you can grab the highest #'s tag available on the board before you leave.
• Tags are in play for casual rounds and tournaments. Higher tag can challenge a lower tag and under most circumstances, lower tag must accept.
• If there are no aces for 2016, half goes to the course maintenance/insurance fund and half goes to the 2017 WW ace pots.
• There will be a year-end Bag Tag Bonanza to end the season. For tag holders only! Sunday October 23rd
• Lots of raffle prizes at the Bag Tag Bonanza. Earn raffle tickets by attending league, hitting an ace. The more you play the better your chances of winning are!

Weekly cost
• Tagholder: $5 -
$2.25 payout, $1 course funds, $.75 ace pot, $1 season points event & payout.

• Non-Tagholder: $7 -
$2.25 payout, $3 course funds, $.75 ace pot, $1 season points event & payout

Points Series Rules
• I will track points for each player & post the up to date standings on this discussion thread

• 1st place in A/B pool gets 5 points
• 2nd place in A/B pool gets 4 points
• 3rd place in A/B pool gets 3 points

• Everyone gets 1 point for playing (you can accumulate up to 25 attendance points)
• If you move up a division at any point in the season your points/standings will stay behind in your previous division and you will compete in the new pool for the nightly payouts, etc. New points earned in higher division are added to your lower pool points.

I encourage everyone to play in the highest division possible for your skill level.
• Top 3 point earners in each division (or more) will win a cash prize at the end of the season.
• Other ways to gain a point - hit an ace
