NEXT WEEK START TIME IS 5:30PM and we will stay there until we start winding down at the end of the season.
Man, that was some heavy rain tonight! We were thinking back during our round and I am pretty sure that is the first time it has rained from start to finish during our league rounds. To add insult to injury the temperature was a balmy 42 or so. Seriously, let's gooo with the warmth!
We still got a solid 38 people to come out and I am really impressed with those of you who toughed it out. The scores weren't even all that bad..

Workday Reminder for this Saturday - May 3rd
Just a friendly reminder we are having a workday this Saturday, May 3rd. We will be compacting fill into the twelve ground boxes and covering with them with Flypads. We need to move a fair amount of fill material with wheel barrels, so the more people and wheel barrels we have the easier this will be.
Weather looks good for the weekend, not too hot. We will meet at 9am at The Hawk’s Nest to begin, but feel free to come anytime later in the day to help out.
We could really use wheel barrels if you got one. If it’s more convenient, you can drop it off at The Hawk’s Nest before Saturday and they will lock it up. Also shovels, rakes and hand tampers would be of great help. As usual there will be lunch and drinks for all that participate. Thank you all so much for your support, together we can make this dream come true.

Upcoming Tee Pad Workdays on the General
We have a couple of important dates coming for work days to help complete tee pad installation on The General.
First, this Sunday, April 27th, we hope to install the last 5 ground boxes on holes 4,5,6,7 and 15. Work will begin after the Sunday Social between 12 noon and 1pm. Meet at The Hawks Nest or come anytime that afternoon. Work is primarily clearing and leveling a 5'x12' area and placing a box in that area. You can bring rakes, shovels, picks but most important is bring yourself as we have tools.
Second date is Saturday, May 3rd. On that day we plan to fill and compact all 12 ground boxes and cover them with rubber pads similar to tee pads on the Hill. We will need wheelbarrows and shovels that day.
Last will be installation of platforms on 6 of the uphill holes. Stay tuned for details.
We are close to having The General tournament ready in under 8 months due to the efforts of Devens volunteers. Let's finish strong over the next few weeks to showcase this new course at The 28 Chain Salute.
Thanks to all our great volunteers.
Wednesday Weekly League - Week 7 Results
NEXT WEEK START TIME IS 5:15pm - For the first 72 players to register in person. This will be the last 5:15 start time and the following week (May 7th) we will move to 5:30 for the rest of the Spring/Summer until we start winding downward again late in the year.
Surprisingly, we had 59 players come out on a night with some tough wind and cool temps. We have been lucky dodging really bad weather so far this year but I think there has only been one single day with a nice forecast (we had 67 players that night). I'm excited to see what happens on the first nice day with a 5:30 start time.
Couple interesting stats for our first 7 league nights. We have had a total of 401 players and which means we are AVERAGING over 57 players per week. That's about 10 players per night better than last year.
We have also had exactly 100 unique players join us and we have sold 88 tags. Each of these figures almost matches last year after only 7 weeks.
I am aiming to start the PDGA league ratings on May 14th or 21st.
Ned Eisenberg takes home the #1 tag for the 4th week in a row!!
A few more administrative notes:
There was once again a huge gap (45 minutes last night, at least) in time between the first card in and the last card in. We are all playing the same amount of holes and starting at the same time. I'm going to move around where I put the 4 somes in an effort to make everything move a little quicker but please use this as a general rule of thumb. If there is no group in front of you and there is always a group behind you - YOU NEED TO PLAY FASTER.. Also helpful to move things along is the hole 18 spotter assistance rule. If you have all tee'd off of hole 18 and there is another group waiting on the box than let them drive before you get to the downhill turn.
The back of my car is not a lost and found. Each week when I get home from league I find the strangest items stuffed in there and I really want that stop. Lost and Found discs go to the Hawks Nest, you can drop it off there just as easily as I can... Clothing, towels, gloves, screwdrivers, and the many other assorted items will be thrown out or donated to charity.
Thank you for your cooperation on both of these matters.

Wednesday Weekly Results - Week 5
NEXT WEEK START TIME IS 5:00pm - For the first 72 players to register in person.
No aces and the scores were over all pretty high aside from the top few. Ned shot a season low 49 followed by Mark Steglemann with a 50. It was a bit windy I guess but I didn't think it was bad enough to effect scores the way it seemed to.

Hill Yeah Spring Classic 2!
Thank you all so much for making “The Hill Yeah Spring Classic 2” tournament such a success! We had such a fun day and I hope that you all did as well! The weather was great and it makes all the work worthwhile to see everyone with a smile on their face.
Bill Corr
drained the $128 ace pot on hole 17. It was Bills first career ace and it he
did it very early in the first round. Nice shot, Bill!
Make sure you go spend your funny money at the Hawks Nest store. Josh and/or Marc are looking forward to seeing you.
I will be
submitting the results to NEFA within a few days. I am just waiting to get the
new member #’s to ensure everyone gets their proper points. If you signed up
for NEFA on the morning of the tournament and didn’t get your points for
this tournament please let me know. It may take a while for the points to show
up.

Wednesday Weekly League - Week #4
NEXT WEEK START TIME IS 5:00pm - For the first 72 players to register in person.
Another night that was oh so close to a sell out. We had 67 players come out on what was easily the best weather we have had so far this year. Let's keep this rolling people!
Two aces and they happened on the same hole! Josh St. Denis and Andy Duquette both hit hole 2
Course was nice and dry and about 99.999% snow free.
The standings spreadsheet isn't fully correct as shown here but I have corrected my mistakes and it will update next week.
